BLOG
Thank you for visiting my website.

I am a settler in the ahupua`a of Honolulu, in the ili`āina of Makiki, in the moku of Kona, on the mokupuni of O`ahu, in the pae`āina of Hawai`i, a part of the larger territory recognized by Indigenous Hawaiians as their ancestral grandmother, Papahānaumoku.

I recognize that her majesty Queen Lili‘uokalani yielded the Hawaiian Kingdom and these territories under duress and protest to the United States to avoid the bloodshed of her people. I further recognize that Hawai‘i remains an illegally occupied state of America.

I am blessed to be here, and I am also troubled by the conditions and circumstances that brought me here. My family came to Hawai`i from our homeland of Korea, in the wake of genocide and war, after decades of occupation. I have lost family claim to my homeland, so I am a settler wherever I go on the planet.

I recognize that Hawai‘i  nourishes me with her land, waters, rains, winds, and sunshine. I further recognize that generations of Indigenous Hawaiians and their knowledge systems shaped Hawai‘i in sustainable ways that allow me to enjoy these gifts today. For this I am truly indebted. As an immigrant and settler, I seek to support the varied strategies that the Indigenous peoples of Hawai‘i are using to protect their land and their communities, and I ask for grace and guidance as I dedicate time and resources to working in solidarity. I dedicate my life and work to the sovereignty of Hawai`i and all beings of this land. I have come back to Hawai`i, my childhood home, in order to be of service to my family,  the local community, and all the beings of the `āina.

I invite you to join me as a comrade.
If my priorities do not resonate with you, I invite you to sit in that discomfort, and participate at any level you see fit.
